TUESDAY!

I have decided that on TUESDAY I will be staying after for however long is needed to help new marchers! Though this is for new marchers, it is fine if any other juniors or sophmores would like to stay after too if they wish to be helped with anything.

At the end of the night, after I have helped those who come, I will be holding a small, quick drilldown for those who have stayed. I will be perfectly fair, and will not allow interuptions!

I will also be around to help people with their music, ect. If you're having problems, I will do my best to help in other times then actual band practice!

I'll see you guys tomorrow!
-Eric

P.S. - I'm asking for one person to stay after and help me on tuesday! I.M. me at Eric Teh Great on AIM if you're interested =]

YAY!

Hey everyone. I just wanted to say how great it is that things are coming together this well, this early. Congrats to all the freshmen and new people who are picking things up very quickly. Thanks to everyone for being so corporative with the drum majors and guard captains with whatever they are teaching you. I know I don't have that much experience as many of the upperclassmen, but I thought it would be cool to give an extended congrats and thanks to everyone. The more corporative we are, the more fun stuff we get to do, like learning all of the extra stand music we have. Let's keep working this hard as the season progresses so we can put on an awesome show!! Thanks again and good luck to everyone! :-)

Adrienne & Others

I'd like to thank Adrienne for sending me the music, because I downloaded Finale Notepad last year, but had problems with it on my laptop forcing me to remove it, so thank you Adrienne.

Second off, I'd like to say that a good friend of mine (and a few others) Steve (Stacy as many of you may know him by) wishes to join the band in the pit. I am going to give him a call later and make sure he knows the hours of band camp, and we will see what happens after that!

And whats this?! A second trumpet player?! It's about time I got some help =P
This also means I need to step, and take things to the next level. As I type this, I am skimming my music (baffled), and wondering what the heck I'm going to do (Left my trumpet in the band house... SORRY G.P.!)

Anyway. Off to finish my summer reading, and looking over all of this music.

Have a great reset of the summer! See you all on monday!

Changes in the Show

Hey everyone, I'm posting this for Adrienne. My dad has made some changes to most of the parts in the show except 1st trumpet. The reason is...we got a new trumpet player!!! YAY! Ok, when the changes are made, my dad will e-mail them to Adrienne and she will get them to you ASAP. She also said to keep going over the music that you have now. Also....Percussion....our music has stayed exactly the same. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Trouble Shooting Guide For Opening Music...

Well... I got my music opened easily. So i figured i would put solutions on here to the most common problems with opening music because...
A.) Im bored
B.) I wanted to Draw in Paint
C.) I know you can figure it out but, im putting it here anyway for the above reasons
D.) All of the above

YES D IS THE ANSWER!!! YOU WIN NOTHING!... aw.. to bad...

ANYWAY... Perhaps you wish to admit summer is practically over and its that time of year again to sign your soul away to band. (Hey its better then signing it to satan... with him you dont get cool costumes =] just kidding) Anyway... So yes.. here is John McCarthys....

COMPLETE MUSICIAN'S GUIDE TO WORKING ON THAT DUSTY OLD PLASTIC THING IN THE CORNER, THE REST OF HUMANITY CALLS "A computer..."

- Brought to you by the Stunningly handsome, John Mccarthy
- Brought to you in part by Burger King Have it your way!

Anyway... Lets start out... What is a computer? Dont get frightened young musician... computers can be your friends! (OR THEY CAN BE A POWERFUL ENEMY! THEY SNEAK INTO YOUR HOME WITH PROMISES OF CHANGING YOUR LIFE AND MAKING THINGS SIMPLE.... YOU GROW TO TRUST THEM! THEN!!! YES... THEN!!! THEY BEGIN TO THINK AND REASON AND RISE TO WORLD DOMINATION ALL BECAUSE YOU DOWNLOADED YOUR 7 MINUTES OF BAND MUSIC FROM IT! YOUR LETTING IT INTO YOUR WORLD!! YOUR CHILDREN AND THEY'RE CHILDREN [ not your children's, children's, children because the jedi will come and wipe out the robot overlords according to the profits] WILL HAVE TO SERVE A ROBOT OVERLORD... BECAUSE OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) ....

ANYWaY! Lets say you want to risk the possible robot overlord "nonsense" and forget the fact your sending your children into 1000 years of servitude under a Evil Overlord Robot... and his Cyborg Wife Helen. Lets say you want to throw caution to the wind and download your music...

Once again... what is a computer? The french like to call it... Comptoir.... But who needs the french!?!? Ha, Ha! The Dictionary defines the word "COMPUTER" AS

com·put·er ( P ) Pronunciation Key (km-pytr)n.
1. A device that computes, especially a programmable electronic machine that performs high-speed mathematical or logical operations or that assembles, stores, correlates, or otherwise processes information.
2. One who computes.

We however are going to deal with the first term.... Now to get your music you must acces the internet.. Because you are reading this...YOU MUST BE ON THE INTERNET! Hazah, for you! You are talented... Now what is the internet you ask... well it is...

IN·ter·net ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ntr-nt)n.
An interconnected system of networks that connects computers around the world via the TCP/IP protocol.

But we assume from this point you have opened your "E-mail" (e-mail or e·mail also E-mail ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ml)n.
A system for sending and receiving messages electronically over a computer network, as between personal computers.
A message or messages sent or received by such a system. ) And downloaded your file from said "E-Mail" and have some problems opening... it.... Now... Lets run through some quick little tasty morsels of information... THESE ARE THINGS YOU SHOULD HAVE
1.) Finale Notepad (Available for free download at finale music... (google the site)
2.) A Kitchen sink.. (For when your printer wont print and you get ink all over yourself)
3.) A Printer... I prefer "HP's" ... dont worry about what it stands for...
4.) Paper... I prefer a 20 pound stock paper... preferably a 50% recycled and 50% new paper blend! (I care about the enviorment)
5.) A sense of adventure ( We will be covering some complicated computer steps, be prepared!)
ON WE GO!!

Now that you have downloaded your music... you must unzip your folder... Most Real New Computers (this excludes apple.... =) sorry Mr. Powers) Ha, Ha. Will do this automatically for you... but if they dont depending on the computer software you are using... there will be a menu on the left once your file is open giving you that option. Now that your file is unzipped how do you open it... you click on one of the icons... and you should get this screen... do what i say in the picture below...

For those of you that cant see the imaage, you must selet the option (circled in red) that says "select the program from a list) then click okay.. then select FINALE NOTEPAD from the list.. and HAZAH! You are finished... Now Go Practice up little musician... You Dont want Adrienne to destroy you when you dont know your music. I hoped this guide has helped the musician become "In-tune" with his favorite new "instrument"... the computer... I hope you enjoyed "REED-ing" my fun little post. I hope it helped... Good Night- and good luck...
